And hebrought hat team to within a win of the cup the year before last... we can't hang our hat on last year... |

Yes. Elite is top five in the league.
Mighty13duck - mighty13duck
i don't think there's a cut off for being elite or not. if there were 3 players in the league that were on crosby's level, and then 7 on malkin's level, and the cut off is top 5, then 4 of those malkin level players wouldn't be considered elite even if they are at the same skill level.
a player is either elite, or he isn't. it doesn't depend on if they're a top 5 player, although all top 5 players are elite players.
i would consider kane and toews elite. i would consider hank elite. i would consider nash elite. i would consider getzlaf and perry elite. i would consider datsyuk and zetterberg elite. i considered gaborik elite last season. i would consider weber, suter, chara, keith, pietrangelo, doughty elite. |

No two situations are exactly the same. I won't be surprised by anything that happens. |

I still think Boston wins this in five but if these guys can surprise me and win the next two games, 2010 cold sweats for all of the Bruins that experienced that, will definitely start to worry it could happen to them twice.
Especially Rask, who was the goalie in that entire series. - MidnightMarauder
I hate to say it and I'm mr positive, I see no way they win a game 5. Maybe tomorrow. But not a game 5 |

The most sobering thing of last night was lack of chances. Game 2 they were getting oodles of scoring chances |

I hate to be technical (no I don't) but you named six elite players in the East when you said elite = top-five. I presume their must have been a tie at #5. |

Just remember in this discussion that "Datsyuk isn't skilled." |

If someone actually said that I missed it and I am glad I did. I have no idea what adjective to use to describe Datsyuk then. |

I think Datsyuk might be the most skilled player in the game with the puck on his stick. Crosby and Malkin are better all-around players but Datsyuk can do some magical things with the puck. |

Malkin certainly, and Crosby probably, are not better all around players than Datsyuk. There's a reason he's up for the Selke every year.
Sid and Geno are more dynamic offensively, but not more all around. |

It was Glenn Healy who said it yesterday and he got lit up about it, he said he works harder because he isn't naturally skilled
In 94 I played Roller Hockey because unless you went to St. Joe's, Bergen Catholic or CBA it was impossible to play High School ice hockey, our School wouldn't give us a team so we started playing in roller hockey leagues, needless top say we went to 4 straight National championships only playing for bronze as our best finish, anyway a women who was close to our team was also the translator for Kovalev, Nemchinov and Karpotsev, she got us into a practice at Rye and if you guys that can remember do Healy had taken a shot that year off his helmet which pushed back the screw into his head and opened him up well just so happens that at that practice he did it again and as he left the ice he bled all over our goaltender, one of the coolest things about that season. |
