Jan Levine: Arnott Fails Physical, Now What?
What do Rangers do now? - airjan23
So that was fun while it lasted, Jason Ar-NOT.
Should have signed Konopka, good scrapper, kills penalties & can win draws. Would have much preferred him to Asham. |

I think we are going to stick with our current roster for the time being. Don't see us adding a different free agent mentioned on the prior thread. Don't see us calling up JT Miller with his limited experience. Would not be surprised to see Kreider go to the Whale after his injury heals to work back to an NHL level.
With that said, early indications are that Benn Ferriero will stick in the roster, he plays hard and contributes some skill as well, an ideal 3rd liner. Boyle and Hagelin can round out that line. Meanwhile, Pyatt is playing like a top 6 forward, so he can slot in the top 6 with Gabby Nash Richards Cally Stepan for the time being. That can change depending on how it goes with him, Hags, and Kreids. 4th line is still a problem, as I have seen nothing of value from Rupp, Halpern or Asham. All together on a line just makes it worse. |

So what do the Rangers do? One player, who many of us have spoken about for a while, that is available is Domonic Moore. Of course, given the recent tragic passing of his wife due to cancer, he may not be in shape or mentally ready to play, but he is worth a call to gauge his interest - airjan23
Whats the harm in slats in giving Moore a call. You're probably right, he's probably no where near ready, emotionally, to play right now. Rangers sure could use him. |

NP Jan & we saw the energy he provided for Ottawa when he was put in the lineup in Gm 2 of that series. We'll see what happens in Minny if he becomes available again like he seems to every trade deadline. |

I read Torts said the team was looking at multiple players before deciding on Arnott. Whether that means UFA's, players available via trade or their own players in the AHL I don't know. It could have been a combination. |

He also got a lot less $ than Asham. |

for some odd reason I though Asham got more.
But hes really good on faceoffs and is a real son of a gun. |

Eh, just $75K less a year. I will say this about Slats now that Torts and co. seem to have him reigned in some; he always has a reason for the moves he makes. I have to assume he has a reason for signing Asham when he presumably could have signed Konopka to the same money. Then again this is still the same GM who traded a draft pick for John Scott last year. |

Oh I know. The only thing that asham has on konapka is skating ability. Other than that Konapka would have been a better fit. |

I did not see that.
Interesting, I wonder who he is talking about. I would be shocked if its JTM |

It was on the ESPN article on Arnott failing the physical by Strang I think. It wasn't a quote so I'm not sure what exactly was said. |

I think Torts wanted to sign him but couldn't remember his name...
“I don’t give a crap what Zenon whatever his name is said,” replied Tortorella. “We’re going to go about our business the right way.” |

The Redden signing was brilliant.
Redden knows how to lose.
He'll certainly help the Blues after the first round. |

Would he have helped? Maybe. But I doubt Torts would have used him on the PP where he could have done some good. His shoulder and Kness are shot, and he couldn't skate to begin with. Next. |

That's the veteran I wanted to bring in, his face off ability and jam were perfect for this team and he slipped away at a great price too. |

every other NHL team is more valuable than the Blues

Doesn't matter when we can get your team to pay someone 6million+ dollars to play for us, then have him score as much as the guy you're paying even more to play for you. |

Yeah, that's a brilliant argument. I'm sure at the end of the season Redden will still have more goals than Nash. |

Tortorella showed class by texting Redden to wish him well in his attempt to resurrect his NHL career. He just didn't fit into what Torts wants, don't forget Renney was coach so Redden's contract became an albatross when it came time to rebuild this team in the way Torts wanted. I don't know what you're trying to get at, you should be thanking the Rangers, the Blues have been helped out in the short term anyways and we get much needed cap relief beginning next season...
As far as your Nash shots, if you are an NHL Center Ice subscriber, take the time to watch Nash play, once tyhe goals start piling up to add to everything else this guys does, that $6 million+ the NYR are paying him is going to look like a steal. Gaborik has 5 goals this season just b/c he is playing opposite, he is big, fast, a bastard 1 on 1, he defends, gets in lanes, blocks shots, I had no idea he was so complete... |
