To get SUbban out of Montreal would have to take a ridiculous contract.
Think about this. If the offer is in the $4-$5.75 range then you know Montreal is just going to match it and all will be said and done.
So to get Subban the Oil would have to offer one of those ridiculous Vanek type contracts and hen pay the compensation of up to four 1st round picks.
The second option is to work out a deal and likely overpay via trade.
so I don't see Subban going anywhere. |

The only talent on ELC's that you would get from the Oil are playing in OKC. So dont even start the trolls with the Yak, RNH, bullpoop. |

ummmm...yea I dont see Burke building Toronto to anything, that team is in shambles...at least with Chicago they showed signs of improvement over the dark years. In Toronto the dark years keep getting darker. |

Ek I stopped reading just to reply to this.
He absolutely did not build this team the right way. He tried a quick fix with Kessel and fell flat on his face. THEN he tried to do the right thing. A massive case of too little too late |

Are you serious? Many people say part of the reason he was fired was because he didn't have enough patience. He tried to fast track the rebuild and did it the wrong way. Get a clue. |

I'm baffled at how Ek could say that. I don't think he knows anything about any other NHL team besides the Flyers. |

I think he made big mistakes with early signings like Komasarek when he thought he could turn it around quicker...but the Kessel signing was not a quick fix. |

I have a different opinion than you do so I guess I don't know anything then...makes sense to me. Bring more to the table. |

Yes. It was. Burke even said as much. He said he was going to fast track the rebuild and do it in 3 years. Properly rebuilding and doing it the way Tallon did it is sucking and drafting good prospects. Burke did the opposite. Burke could have had Seguin and Hamilton. Now he just has Kessel. You're gonna try tell me you'd rather have Kessel than Seguin and Hamilton?! |

sorry hit reply to quickly.....if the Flyers weren't willing to part with Couturier for Weber than there is ZERO chance he gets packaged in that "deal" |

Ek just stop acting like you now hockey.... Jeff Finger was signed before Brian Burke even got to Toronto by Cliff Fletcher....
It was the same year Fletcher hired Ron Wilson.....Just stop |

EK, you're honestly saying Burke was patient?
COME ON! hahahahaha..
I don't think there was any other GM out there who would have jeapordized the Leaf's future with the Kessel deal. That set them back 2 years, easy.
And now Kessel will be a free agent after next season (with no playoffs in sight), and he may walk. In the end, the Leafs may get nothing tangible (ie no playoffs with Kessel) for Seguin and Hamilton (both of which are GTA boys and would have been pretty loyal to the Leafs.. probably lifers).
No, Burke wasn't patient at all, and that, if I'm a Leafs' fan, is why I'm happy he's gone. |

Phil Kessel was 6th in scoring last year playing on a team win almost no other proven offensive options. teams keyed on Kessel and yet he still out scored Tavares, the Sedins, Hossa....all of whom you would probably take over Seguin and Hamilton...right? Oh, and Kessel just turned 25. |

cue the mouth breathers.
The foundation is there for a solid team. Tough to compare it to a team full of potential supertars like the Oilers but they have the making for a well rounded team between the current line up and guys coming through the minors.
Are there holes to fill? Of course, much like many teams in the league but they are on the right track |

That's cute.
Like someone said earlier if they were not willing to part with Couturier for the number 1 or 2 dman in the world what about the trade above makes you think they would do it?
