dont u guys need a shutdown D badly though? if you have Schultz as your PP QB why are they gonna waste the players they could use to get a really good shutdown D on MDZ who couldnt crack the rangers consistently until last year BECAUSE of his shaky ways in his own end???
makes no sense to me - Habitants98
Well, in my mind, J.Schultz is not a given, Whitney is a walking band-aid, and Petry is a 3-4/5-6 D-man at best. In order to truly support our young forwards, we need good puck moving defensemen. Plus, MDZ is still young, and experienced enough. J.Schultz has yet to play one game in the NHL. I do agree we need shutdown guys, but there is not a tonne available, and if MDZ is... |

Phil Kessel was 6th in scoring last year playing on a team win almost no other proven offensive options. teams keyed on Kessel and yet he still out scored Tavares, the Sedins, Hossa....all of whom you would probably take over Seguin and Hamilton...right? Oh, and Kessel just turned 25. - Eklund
I would MAYBE take Tavares over Seguin and Hamilton. The rest? Absolutely not. Using comparing stats like this are ineffective. Patrick Elias had more points last year than Ovechkin, Datsyuk, Kopitar. All of whom you would taker over Elias, right?
See. It's quite easy and very meaningless to use comparison stats like that. Seguin was projected to be a franchise centre man and so far is living up to the hype. Hamilton is billed as one of the top defensive prospects in hockey. Those two things don't come around very often. |

played poorly in a 10 day tournament he didn't want to play in to start with and now he's going to suck in some people's opinions. |

The entire team sucked. Other than RNH = Every top Canadian prospect is a bust. It's logic. |

Hey Ek: any rumours about Forsberg making a comeback?
With the shortened season, his ankle won't be put under as much stress.
C'mon, Ek: I dare you. |

Eklund you are an idiot.
1.the leaves will continue to suck.
2. Canucks fans for the most part liked Burke and think he got a raw deal at the hands of Stan mcammond.
3. Canucks fans only fault Burke for sticking with cloutier when people realized he wasn't the guy to win the cup
4.idiot eastern media have no clue about what happens in Vancouver cuz they are to busy navel gazing in Toronto |

Get a clue eklund.the sedins were the top scorers in the western Conf. There's a clear difference in scoring between east and west which was shown in last season. |

Always a lot of hyberole and extreme points of view about anything Leafs and Burke, on all sides. Like others I say look at the roster, farm teams and contract situation Burke inherited, and look at it now. As much as he screwed up and he sure did, he doesn't have the Leafs in a horrible situation. It's still a work in progress.
Burke's a gambler and a home run hitter, he knocks them out of the park and he strikes out big too. For every Cloutier he's got a Sedin twins move, or if you're going to say the Kessel trade will be a big loss in the long run, at the same time remind yourself somehow he traded Toskala and Blake, I mean that doesn't even make sense that someone could do that. I remember well enough after a bunch of trades he made people where saying I don't understand, how does Burke destroy people on these trade?
I can still see a lot of dividends coming from Burke's work, a lot of GMs could have done worse given the turd sandwich he had to start with.
Should be an interesting season.
