Yeah, 'cause there's so much to write about with everyone on hold and the response when I do write is typically so overwhelming. |

There's been a tremendous feeling of apathy 'round these parts, with myself included at this point. People don't care this time around, and I don't blame them. It's hard to give a poop when you realize that your passion/money doesn't matter to the millionaires and billionaires. |

You can write about how you have the worst owner in professional sports and how he's ruining the NHL and the game of hockey.

No, he's always been a douche, but this kinda really throws the spotlight on his bumhole ways. |

I think the problem is that the world has changed in 8 years. There is a lot more access to a lot more entertainment over the net.
Besides that, the NBA and NFL fill in nicely. For hockey we can always catch the odd junior game or AHL game. I have done both, enjoyed the game, and didn't feel like I needed to refinance any major assets after the fact.
People approaching or in middle age, like me, especially if they have young kids, don't have a ton of time to watch hockey anyway.

Regarding the actual blog, I still think that Boston will be an attractive destination for free agents because they're still contenders, in a good market and as long as they're willing to pay for free agents just like everyone else I don't see tis becoming an issue. How much do the players really interact with the owner? Not much, and I'm assuming even less than normal in Jacobs case. A hatred/disrespect for a GM/Coach/Player would be a bigger/significant issue for a free agent player. And like Ty said, it's no secret that Jacobs is a douche. |

Taking my son (5yrs old) to a Jrs game cost me $40 for both of us for good seats, I don't have to blow $200 to do so. Obviously my son would be much more impressed at an NHL game but he still really likes to see the Jrs, it's a good first step to introduce him to the sport live. |

I'm not overly concerned about FAs wanting to come to Boston because of Jacobs. Money is usually the main objective in signing contracts. I think with the money aspect and Boston's success make this city marketable to FAs. I think we will do just fine in offseasons to come |

Bingo.
I miss hockey a lot, but watching college hockey and even the OHL games the NHLN has been airing has been a nice replacement between football and basketball. That being said, I still definitely long for the NHL. Miss being around a pro rink. |

I was always a TV fan, or only really went when someone I knew got corporate tickets to a box.
I really just can't justify the cost. Now that I am in a position where I *could* afford to take my son, the Leafs suck so badly that I would just resent supporting them.

yeah mine is 6. He was in the Timbits game last weekend. Matt Finn autographed his jersey. I am kicking myself because he had his Leafs jersey in his hockey bag... I should have got that one autographed instead
At his age, I don't think he honestly has a clue what level he is watching and doesn't care. It is all just the "big men" playing.

It's not even that, it's that they are both so very (frank)ing arrogant about not giving a damn about the fans who pay to see the entertainment they provide. It's like we don't even matter, and we will come back anyways, like idiots, eventually, once they split up their 3.3 billion. Maybe we will watch again, but the NHL cant afford to take that risk like MLB,NBA or NFL can, it's like they are rubbing the fans noses in it, and a niche sport in the united states to boot. You would figure they want to keep momentum, but they don't care about the game, neither side, just about the size of their wallets, only people care are watching from the sidelines fed up, and without a voice. |
