The Columbus Blue Jackets do battle on the road for the first time this season against the Detroit Red Wings at the Little Ceasar's Arena. Columbus is coming in to this contest with head coach Brad Larsen's first chance at the disadvantage as they do not have last change or the home atmosphere surrounding him and the squad tonight.

Both teams are coming into this matchup shorthanded with different looking rosters than their previous. Columbus will be without the services of winger Max Domi with a fractured rib; Detroit is with their captain as center Dylan Larkin after being suspended for one game for unsportsmanlike conduct towards Tampa Bay Lighting winger Matthew Joseph, he makes his return tonight.

The Larkin return will make the friendly and hostile rivalry with Columbus defenseman Zach Werenski the thing to watch, being childhood friends and teammates from developmental and at college.

From the previous matchups, Columbus has been losing players in every game thus far. Nathan Gerbe still has until near the trade deadline or the Olympic break before we see him play; Emil Bemstrom has suffered an injury on game one.

Detroit lost Jakub Vrana in a preseason game to an injury that will have him out until January 2022 at the earliest. Vrana was part of the blockbuster that got Detroit first rounder goalie Sebastian Cosa and sending winger Anthony Mantha to Washington.

Columbus has also announced roster moves to the lineup tonight. Goalkeeper Jonas Korpisalo will make his first start of the season against the Red Wings; and winger Yegor Chinakov will make his NHL debut against the Wings.

DET Player to Watch

RW Lucas Raymond

The Sweedish sniper is a masterful find for Steve Yzerman and his organizational staff as he is already a top line forward as a rookie. He is a purely gifted offenseman and will provide now and for decades in the NHL.

CBJ Player to Watch

RW Yegor Chinakov

Sniper battle in Detroit. This kid was a steal in his draft, and will look to score in his debut tonight.
