I don't care what happens, this is fun!

45-42 were the shots in favour of the Blackhawks during an exciting shootout win over the 'Yotes on Saturday night.

I was thoroughly impressed with how prepared and engaged the Blackhawks were early on in this game.

Arizona had already played 2 games since their layoff and was entering their 3rd game in 4 nights. I was wary that while the Hawks were shaking off their rust, the Coyotes were going to exploit them.

This wasn't the case though and thanks to strong performances from Brandon Saad, Patrick Kane and of course Corey Crawford, the Hawks were able to take 2 points in AZ.

Unfortunately, their opponents took home a point for their troubles as well. Arizona is now 3 points ahead of Chicago in that 2 WC spot.

Yes, I am scoreboard watching – and suspect I will scoreboard watching – from now until the end of the regular season.

Now, some of you are still on the "just tank and get a good pick" trains and others are the "we're making the playoffs, I can feel it in my bones" side. I honestly have no idea what side I'm on, I just know that this is getting really fun.

When the Hawks were crushing 45-50 wins per season in their heyday, there were portions of the regular season where it was boring. I know, boo-hoo if you're a fan from another the reading this blog, but honestly, in 2009-10 the Hawks' record was 52-22-8.

It became predictable – even when they were down – that they were going to win.

Sure, these last few years have been difficult, but at least this 2019-20 Hawks team has made this season quite exciting.

This rollercoaster season has the Hawks now playing for their playoff lives in these last couple of months.

Do I think the Blackhawks are going to win the Stanley Cup this year? No.

Would I love the Hawks to select a future star this summer at the entry draft with a top 5 pick? Yes.

Do I think this whole winning thing and fighting for the playoffs is creating a great atmosphere for the younger players on the team while entertaining the fans? Hell, yes!

This team is finally hitting on all cylinders and are probably as healthy as they are going to be; It's fun to see what we knew this team could be when we looked at the roster on paper at the start of this season.

Colliton listened to me and kept Dach on Kane's line and with Dylan Strome returning, the Hawks have solid depth upfront. On the backend and in net, they are playing their best hockey as well.

Coming up this week, CHI heads to Minnesota for Tuesday and back home to host Boston on Wednesday.

Then, the Hawks get a beak from Wednesday until Sunday when they head to Winnipeg to take on the Jets.

I don't know about you, but I'm buckling in looking forward to some more exciting hockey.

Whatever happens at the end of all of this up-and-down season is completely out of my control, so I'm going to enjoy the ride.

See ya out there!
