The deadline to file for player elected arbitration is today at 5 p.m. Eastern.
Barring any unforeseen changes, Blake Coleman and his agent, Brian Bartlett, will exercise that option.
"We anticipate filing today," said Bartlett.
Coleman, 26, registered 13 goals and 25 points in what was his first full NHL season.
Beyond putting up solid offensive numbers for a bottom-6 forward, Coleman also played plus-defense and provided excellent penalty killing while leading all Devils forwards in short-handed time on ice.
Clearly a gap remains between the Devils and Coleman's camp. Filing for arbitration should increase the urgency to find common ground in the coming weeks, as arbitration hearings can be rather cut-throat and unpleasant for all parties involved.
