Update 12:48 Sources are now telling me “Rick Tocchet is almost done and there are just a few steps of approval left.”
But the bottom line here iis “Are we OK with Tock>”
My opinion on this is…yes. Besides being a defining player for the flyers style, he’s also been a player who’s played with skilled players like Mario Lemieux, and as a coach as coached in situations without a lot of talent, on teams that were building and kept them more competitive than they should’ve been…. People look at his record, but seem to forget that Arizona should’ve been way worse than they were while he was there…
I know he was on the other side of the trading Miller to the Rangers argument. And I do believe that that may be the straw that broke the camels back and why he is not resigning in Vancouver. He’s a character for sure and demands his team be tough and skilled…
Players adore playing for him, because he is kind of a legend among the young guys for his game and his general personality and he just drips ofeverything hockey..
I don’t look at this like the flyers just hiring another one of their alumni. He is an experienced coach , and will definitely land somewhere else if not here, and will do everything in his power to bring the team back to where it belongs.
