So yesterday the Flyers made an interesting signing, bringing in center Christian Dovrak…
Why the Flyers Signed Him
Basically, he’s a third line center who can step up to second line as needed. He kills penalites. He can also play on the power play…. No, I’m not describing Scott Laughton. We all miss Scotty. He was a great player, but Dvorak should be better.
He was extremely hot last year for Montreal and played a major role in helping them in to the playoffs.
One-year, $5.4 M deal: Offers short-term value and flexibility.
Rick Tocchet knows him from Arizona… coaches need players who are salesmen… This is a big I, 299-year-old being able to sell Tocchet’s system which he’s familiar with.
He’s also known as an extremely strogn, face-off guy, winning 55% last year….

The first question I got yesterday from a lot of people when the signing went down was does this mean the end of the Flyers seeking out a first line center like Shayne Wright?
The answer I was given was an immediate: No…
This is not to say that a trade for Wright is imminent or even likely…. It’s the summer things…move a little bit differently and sources usually take longer to get back to you… how dare they have family lives? But I do believe the search for the numbe rone center and the big game hunting is still on.
So now I have a question for you guys…..
