TRADE UPDATE:
'Avs acquire Lehkonen from the Canadiens
- Colorado is sending defenseman Justin Barron and a second-round pick to Montreal for Lehkonen. Montreal retains 50% of Lehkonen's salary.
Lehkonen had 13 goals and 16 assists in 58 games with Montreal this season.
- Sakic also picked up penalty kill specialist and speedster Andrew Cogliano (4g 11a) from the Sharks for a 5th RD pick in 2024.

Today is the NHL Trade Deadline and the Colorado Avalanche may be done... or are they?
When Joe Sakic and the 'Avs "lost" Claude Giroux to the Florida Panthers we all figured it was time to jump on plan B or even plan C. Since then... nothing.
There is plenty of chatter surrounding Colorado as we approach the 3 pm EST deadline. Sakic and company are still linked to Andrew Copp and even Max Domi, but does Sakic need to do anything else?
The additions of Josh Manson and Nico Strum addressed pronounced areas of weakness. I argue that these moves are enough to put this team over the top. But, with teams like Tampa and FLA going all in for a run does Joe feel the pressure to do more?
I know some among the fanbase freaked out when Giroux went elsewhere but at this point, all fans can do is trust Joe and the process. He's done a fine job to this point and anything else is gravy.
Are you satisfied or do you want more?
I will update this blog if and when Colorado makes another move.
Discuss.
