The Colorado Avalanche rallied from a 2-1 third period deficit to defeat the Vegas Golden Knights 3-2 on Saturday night in Sin City.

The 'Avs come from behind again despite a mostly listless effort through 40 minutes. It was the clubs 17th come from behind win this season. Colorado improves to 10-10-1 when the opponent scores the game's first goal and 5-9-2 when trailing after two periods. They’ve earned the name “Comeback Kings.”

A desperate Vegas team came out flying and took it to Colorado early grabbing a 2-1 first period lead. The game could have easily slipped away had it not been for Darcy Kuemper's efforts. He was very good again stopping 34 shots to keep his team close until they could steal the win.

The game was reminiscent of the Boston game in which the 'Avs were beaten to every loose puck and looked lifeless. Kuemper made sure history would not repeat itself.

Colorado railed 2-1 after two periods and it felt like Vegas' game to lose... and that they did.

J.T. Compher and Nathan MacKinnon scored 26 seconds apart to put the 'Avs in front for good.

The Avalanche improved to 39-10-4 and have won three straight and five of their past six. All is well in the Rocky Mountain State.

Game Notes:

- Andre Burakovsky scored the 'Avs first goal of the game. It was his second straight game with a goal since cutting his hair and of course ending a 17-game drought.

- Cale Makar picked up an assist to extend his point streak to eight games. It was the 150th point of his career. He's the second-fastest defenseman to reach 150 points behind Mark Howe.

- Colorado went 0-for-2 on the power play. The 'Avs are 2 for its last 30 attempts with the man advantage.

- The Avalanche has a six-point lead in the race for the President's Trophy. Second-place Carolina has two games in hand.

- The 'Avs are the only NHL team with five players with 50 or more points. (MacKinnon, Landeskog, Makar, Ranatan and Kadri.)
