Landeskog Hat Trick Propels Avalanche To Another Electrifying Comeback

There are not many hockey clubs that continually wow you with their on-ice play.

The Colorado Avalanche is such a team... but nothing they do surprises me anymore. Really, nothing.

Friday night's exhilarating 6-3 come from behind victory over the Winnipeg Jets at Ball Arena is almost routine at this point.

Despite a fairly decent first period, the 'Avs found themselves down 3-0 after 20 minutes of play. This is a position this team is not unfamiliar with. In fact, Colorado is 9-10-1 in games in which the opponent scores first and now have two games they've won when trailing by three goals.

This team seriously has an uncanny ability to dominate no matter what the situation or score. On that ability is all thanks to one hell of a leadership group starting with captain Gabriel Landeskog.

Landeskog scored three times for his second hattrick of the season and second against the Jets. It was the fifth HT of his career. Nathan MacKinnon is heating up and added two goals of his own and the 'Avs shook off the early deficit for a 6-3 victory.

Mikko Rantanen had three assists. Devon Toews, Cale Makar, Val Nichushkin, and Nazem Kadri each had two assists. It was another total team effort.

Colorado blitzed the Jets for the final 40 minutes scoring six consecutive 5-on-5 goals.

The game-winner came courtesy of Andre Burakovsky and his new haircut. The goals It was his first since Jan. 14. Right after the game, Landeskog referred to the new doo in his post-game interview. Crediting a haircut is next-level cool and Gabe is the coolest captain in the league.

Colorado is now 44-7-2 at home over the last two seasons. That's ridiculous TBH.

I'm regularly awestruck by just how quickly the 'Avs snap the puck around and how ferocious they are on the forecheck. They embarrassed Winnipeg with their speed. The Jets looked totally dejected by the final horn. It gives me hope that someday my beloved New Jersey Devils will play the game like that.

Sometimes this team looks like video game AI when they are tailing in a game of NHL. Suddenly Colorado makes every perfect pass, pucks find them, and they can score at will.

Colorado improved to 38-10-4 and now holds the distinction of being the first NHL team to 70 and now 80 points. This team is a wagon. Their lead in the Central remains a cool dozen points.

Colorado heads to Vegas on Saturday to play a slumping Vegas Golden Knights team. Vegas has lost 4 of 5 games since placing mark Stone on LTIR. Welp.
