Active Avalanche Continue To Make Noise With Trade Deadline Looming |

Joe Sakic has been a busy boy these last few weeks and his work is really paying off.
The 'Avs snatched up the bruising defender Josh Manson from the Ducks and then swooped in to grab Nico Sturm from the Minnesota Wild. Sturm cost Colorado fan and team favorite Tyson Jost but it had to be done.
It's very clear that Sakic has a very clear objective in mind - get bigger, stronger, and harder to play against.
Manson had a huge impact on the 'Avs 3-0 win the other night with his size and hitting ability. he had more hits than anybody else on the ice that night. It looks like he will be the Ying to Sam Girard's Yang when "G" returns to the lineup.
Head coach Jared Bednar called Sturn the forward version of Manson and he can win faceoffs. One area Colorado has struggled in mightily this season.
Sturm’s faceoff-winning percentage for the Wild this season was an impressive 51.7%, while Jost’s faceoff percentage was an unimpressive 39%.
Now all eyes turn to the Claude Giroux saga. Giroux fresh off game 1,000 with Philly will now sit and wait to be traded. he will not travel with the Flyers this weekend.
Is Florida the frontrunner or have the 'Avs come back with an even better offer? We shall know soon enough with the trade deadline looming on Monday.
If not Giroux then who? Many Colorado fans want more depth in the bottom six. Does Joe go big or play it smart and build a win-now Cup contender?
I will try and post anything big in a timely fashion. I'm going to be off the grid while we build our new home deep in the heart of Texas.
