I am off to Tampa Bay; a great venue for NCAA Hockey. I am always proud of the officials who work for us in all of the Leagues that we assign. In particular, we had two great ECAC crews working the NCAA Regionals in Cincinnati, a town I know a little bit about as a former resident and player for the WHA's Stingers.

I'm proud of the work turned in by the gentlemen in the Tweet below. They worked alongside ECAC referee Marty Hughes, who was the Friday night standby in Cincy. In Worcester, we had linesman standby Steve Drain and referee standby CJ Hanafin ready just in case for the Friday night games.

On the Women's side for the NCAA Championship Game, we had referees Bryan Hicks and Derek Zuckerman with linesmen Kyle Smiley and James Shea and with referee standby Anthony Kenney. This year, the ECAC saw a woman referee, Katie Guay break the glass ceiling while working 10 men's games plus a whole slate on the Women's side.

We in the ECAC had a great year on the officiating side. I am very pleased.

Paul Stewart holds the distinction of being the first U.S.-born citizen to make it to the NHL as both a player and referee. On March 15, 2003, he became the first American-born referee to officiate in 1,000 NHL games.

Today, Stewart serves as director of hockey officiating for the ECAC.

The longtime referee heads Officiating by Stewart, a consulting, training and evaluation service for officials. Stewart also maintains a busy schedule as a public speaker, fund raiser and master-of-ceremonies for a host of private, corporate and public events. As a non-hockey venture, he is the owner of Lest We Forget.
