The Toronto Maple Leafs completed their three-day training camp weekend in Nova Scotia and have reduced their roster by 16 players prior to the start of the exhibition schedule on Monday with split-squad contests against the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Center in Kanata, ON and Air Canada Center in Toronto.
The club demoted forwards Eric Faille, T.J. Foster, Justin Johnson, Jack Rodewald, Matt Rupert, Ryan Rupert, Nikolai Skladnichenko, Brady Vail, defensemen Justin Holl, Max Nicastro to their minor league camp which opens next week and sent six players; forwards Martins Dzierkals (Rouyn-Noranda), Aiden Jamieson (London), Michael Joly (Rimouski), defensemen Stephen Desrocher (Oshawa), Cody Donaghey (Halifax) and goaltender Lucas Peressini (Kingston) back to their junior clubs.
This leaves Toronto with 31 forwards, 17 defensemen and five goaltenders to start the pre-season. The Leafs are expected to start Jonathan Bernier and James Reimer on Monday and give Marlies goalies Garret Sparks and Antoine Bibeau work on Tuesday at the Bell Center in Montreal.

Leafs TV's Paul Hendrick reports that one of the stronger performers thus far has been winger Connor Brown, who led the Marlies and all AHL rookies with 61 points last season after winning the Ontario Hockey League scoring title with 128 points in 2013-14.
The 21-year-old winger has lined up with James van Riemsdyk and Tyler Bozak in scrimmages this weekend and may play with the remnants of last year's top line on Monday.
