Canucks Notes: Bear, Dermott & Juulsen |

With free agency less than 24 hours away, the Vancouver Canucks have made some decisions regarding their roster.
Most notably, the Canucks have decided not to send qualifying offers to Ethan Bear and Travis Dermott. Both players will be unrestricted free agents (UFA) and can find new homes as soon as tomorrow (July 1).
The Canucks initially planned to send Bear his $2.2 million qualifying offer, but the long-term shoulder injury he suffered at the World Championship has made them change their mind. The 26-year-old appeared in 61 games last season with the Canucks, posting three goals, 16 points, and a plus-6 rating. Although he will miss the beginning stages of next season, there should be interest there.
It is not too surprising to see that the Canucks have parted ways with Dermott. He was due a $1.75 million qualifying offer and missed the majority of last season due to concussion-related symptoms. In 11 games this season with the Canucks, the 26-year-old scored one goal and sported a minus-4 rating.
Carson Focht was also not sent a qualifying offer, while Akito Hirose, Nils Hoglander, and Vitali Kravtsov were.
In other news, the Canucks have re-signed Noah Juulsen to a two-year contract extension. It is a two-way deal; he will carry a $775,000 cap hit at the NHL level. The 26-year-old will continue to serve as a depth option for the Canucks. In 12 games this season with Vancouver, he had zero points, 43 hits, and a plus-1 rating.
With free agency just about here, I will provide updates on all the moves that the Canucks make tomorrow.
