What the Heck Just Happened Out in Pittsburgh?

This is nothing we saw coming. Not by a country mile did I see the Flyers giving up 8 goals in Pittsburgh and winning two games, and the thought of putting 11 past Fleury???? Not happening.

What we are seeing in this series is actually quite simple. When teams get scoring from their bottom six like this they simply can't be beat...If Brayden Schenn and Sean Couturier are going to almost score two points a game, if Giroux and Briere are as hot as they are, then there really isn't much Pittsburgh can do. The Flyers depth right now is bowling the Penguins over. You never know how rookies will respond to different situations, but this is beyond what anyone could have imagined. The Flyers have not gotten a goal from Hartnell and have gotten only one goal from Jagr.

Bryzgalov has been at key times unbelievable. In game 1 there were so many saves he made to keep the game within three, right before Briere got the team going. Given how the Flyers were taken down by Boston last year, those were the key moments in the series. The Flyers needed to believe in themselves and until Briere scored, they didn't.

The Penguins looked exhausted at the end of last night's game. Completely spent. Caught in the cross-fire. Bylsma had no answers. Laviolette had no questions.

But this series isn't over. Not by a long shot. I fully could see these Penguins winning game 3 and d 4 in Philly. We have seen that before. I also believe the Penguins need to get to Philly. Need to stop matching lines and start believing they are too good to matched against. Its a mindset. And it could return.

The Flyers will take the pressure now in Philly. Funny thing happens when you win the first two on the road. Its so hard to come home and not feel different. Right now, while they would never admit it, I am sure the Flyers wouldn't mind playing the rest of this series out in Pittsburgh.

If I believe nothing else, I believe this series isn't done shocking us. Not done surprising us. But I am done trying to figure it out.

more to come..
