This year’s BEST trade is a trade another team should have made;Thur's Buzz

It’s still early..and of course judging a trade often can’t be done for years as the draft picks come in…but hey, lets be hasty and judge away!

There is one trade that has truly appeared to matter…and the irony of this particular trade is there is another team that needed to make the same deal and would likely have made the playoffs if they had…

Can you name it?

I will give you a hint by telling you a few other trades that I have liked…bun fall short of the best..

Jonathan Quick to Vegas…

Quick has been everything you’d want him to be….His 2.47 GAA with Vegas is more than a goal better than he was in LA. And the reality is the playoffs are where he truly shines. I can’t wait to see it. Especially if the Knights and Kings meet in round one…

Patrick Kane to NY…

His 9 points in 13 games with the Rangers are solid, but what he has brought to them more than that are the intangibles…. he is a winner. And the Rangers have found ways to win since Kane arrived. Many comebacks…will bode well in the playoffs

Timo Meier to the Devils…

Time will tell on this one of course, and it’s important to remember Meier was coming off an injury when he was moved to the Devils, but the playoffs are also where Timo should shine. Anyone who remembers the Sharks run to the Cup a few years back should be excited to see what Timo brings in a few weeks.

Orlov to Boston….

This was a sneaky perfect trade., It’s the kind of trade that could still be a huge part of bringing the Cup back to Boston…When the Bruins are all healthy, Orlov slots in about as perfectly as any trade we have seen in recent years. Its often the depth trades that help win it all.

There are other trades that are helping and may prove out to be the best….but the trade that is currently the most brilliant…

Korpisalo and Gavrikov to the Kings….

This trade was painful, because it meant moving a team icon in Quick. It risked alienating your entire rooster who worshipped Quick…But all that has happened since is the Kings win games. 9-0-3 in their last twelve. They are now firmly in the playoffs and gunning for the division…

Who else needed to make this trade?

The Buffalo Sabres. If the Sabres make the same move I believe they too would be firmly in the playoffs… The Sabres are still in the hunt, but barely..The fact is this was the Sabres race to lose…They have been wildly inconsistent, but so have the Islanders, Panthers, and Penguins.. Had the Sabres firmed up their keeper with Korpisalo and added experience in the shutdown Gavrikov, they would be easily in that top wildcard spot. They would have had to give up their first….but I would have to essentially get this team in the playoffs and accelerate their growth..

What say you?

THE BUZZTRON
Went 4-6 last night…only our fourth losing night out of 25…

And it was the games that should have been no brainers that killed the Buzztron….

Boston losing to the Preds in Boston?
Pittsburgh losing to Detroit?
San Jose shutting out the Jets in the West Side Story Classic…
even Tampa beating Carolina was surprising given how the Canes have just owned the Bolts in this battle of weather….

We knew last night had a lot of close games going in. Six of the 10 were predicted to go OT, and we lost one of those with Vancouver falling to Winnipeg.

However we did have a big call predicting Calgary over LA. A Huge win that sees the Flames in a projected final standing playoff spot…
