The Winnipeg Jets are definitely team to watch right now. Their inconsistency this season was pretty epic. Kevyn Chevaldayoff is known for being extremely methodical in his moves, but this year everyone is saying he’s already aggressive. Connor Hellebuyck is a great player and obviously will bring back a good amount. Especially from a team in desperate need of a goalie. I would keep a good eye on Pittsburgh and Buffalo here.. Los Angeles kings like him a lot but I don’t know the Winnipeg would be comfortable moving him in the conference.
On Travis Konecny…
The Philadelphia Flyers Travis Konecny is another example of inconsistency with a great upside potential. I felt pretty strongly that John Tortorella would help straighten out his game and a times it looked like that would be the case… However, in order for the flyers to rebuild they’re gonna need to bring in some serious talent by giving up some serious talent. The Ottawa senators and the Florida panthers are two places I have heard tied to Travis. Also Nashville…
On Varlamov…
There is no question he wants to stay in New York, and he’s perfectly fine with a back up roll….however I’m not sure that’s the direction in Lou Lamoriello wants to go. They were quite a few teams interested in him before. That could continue. LA, Pitt, Buff…. To this point I have not heard the Edmonton Oilers however a few people feel that that could be a name that services there soon.
On O’Reilly…
Ryan O’Reilly shows exactly what he brings to a team with the way he played for the Maple Leafs in the playoffs. He is a warrior and a clutch player, and while Toronto would love to bring him back, that would require him to take a discount. The New Jersey Devils may put him at the top of their list as far as UFA’s go. The Islanders will definitely be poking around. Sure the Jets buy out some players this week…. Ryan O’Reilly would be the perfect start of something new.
On Alex Debrincat….
Alex has a lot of value in surprisingly appears to not be with Ottawa for very much longer… According to a very trusted source, When the Chicago Blackhawks draft Connor Bedard there could very easily be a trade in place to bring Alex back to the Windy City…What a combo they could be… The price for Debrincat will be far Freon discounted, as the Red Wings are expected to be a big player and that is where Alex may want to play…
