There have been a lot of rumors about the Dallas Stars and a couple of their pending unrestricted free agents. They are definitely interested in re-signing defenseman Chris Tanev, but the market for the 34-year-old is expected to be brisk on July 1.

The chatter is that the chances are better of getting Matt Duchene locked up prior to the start of free agency. After getting bought out by Nashville, he signed a one-year deal with the Stars and he bounced back with 65 points. Duchene loved his year in Dallas and with Joe Pavelski retiring, GM Jim Nill likely wants to bring back the veteran forward. At 33, it won’t take a long-term deal and a boatload of money.
