The Capitals Signed UFA Zdeno Chara to a one-year deal worth $795,000. Chara brings toughness, strong work ethic, and Stanley Cup experience. This move in all likelihood will bump Jonas Siegenthaler off the starting lineup and on to the Taxi Squad.

My initial reaction is this is an AWESOME pick up for the Capitals. They struggled big time on defense last season and they have clearly prioritized the blue line in the off season. Chara joins Justin Schultz and Trevor van Riemsdyk as new additions to the defense for 2021. Chara posted a heartfelt goodbye and ode to Boston on his Instagram. What a great guy.
