The Carolina Hurricanes re-signed their last major restricted free agent this week. Here are the updates:

HURRICANES RE-SIGN FOEGELE

The Carolina Hurricanes re-signed forward Warren Foegele to a one-year deal, worth $2.15 million this week. Foegele will still be a restricted free agent when this contract expires next summer. You can read my analysis of the contract here.

SELLGREN PRODUCING IN SHL

Hurricanes 2018 sixth-round pick, defenseman Jesper Sellgren, is off to a great start in Sweden. Sellgren has eight points in his first 13 SHL games.

As for this week’s poll questions, here are the results and my thoughts on how they turned out:

QUESTION: Are you happy with the price/term of Warren Foegele’s new contract?

(Votes: 59)

Yes: 54%
Don’t feel strongly either way: 27%
No: 19%

A one-year deal at just over $2 million certainly isn’t going to hurt the Hurricanes. That said, the price was slightly higher than expected on Foegele’s contract.

QUESTION: How many points will Foegele score next season?

(Votes: 43)

30-40 points: 58%
More than 40 points: 30%
Less than 30 points: 12%

Foegele was on pace for about 36 points (per 82 games) this season and I’d expect him to hit a similar number next season. He should be in a similar role, likely playing left wing in the middle-six.

QUESTION: At this point, do you think the Hurricanes will find an upgrade in net before the start of the 2020-21 season?

(Votes: 104)

No: 83%
Yes: 17%

Coming into the offseason, I was pretty optimistic that the Hurricanes would find an upgrade in net. However, with the majority of available goalies now signed or traded, I think Carolina missed their opportunity.

QUESTION: If the Hurricanes re-sign Dougie Hamilton to an eight-year deal, what's your prediction for the AAV?

(Votes: 192)

$7.5M to $8M: 33%
$8M to $8.5M: 31%
$7M to $7.5M: 18%
More than $8.5M: 9%
Less than $7M: 9%

I think some of this will come down to how much the market recovers by next offseason and whether teams are willing to start spending money again. Personally, I’d have him between $8 million and $8.5 million on an eight-year deal.

QUESTION: Assuming he's in the NHL next season, how many points do you expect from Jake Bean (82-game average)?

(Votes: 67)

20-30 points: 52%
Less than 20 points: 33%
More than 30 points: 15%

Bean would likely play on the bottom pairing if he’s with the Hurricanes, so he wouldn’t be putting up any huge numbers. That said, given how well he’s performed in the AHL, I think 20-30 points for Bean would certainly be possible.
