The San Jose Sharks announced earlier this week that they’ve signed forward Alexander Barabanov to a one-year contract extension and prospect Adam Raska to an entry-level contract.

Barabanov was acquired by San Jose from the Toronto Maple Leafs at the trade deadline and had quite a bit of success with the Sharks in limited action.

The 26-year-old had three goals and seven points in nine games with San Jose, after managing just a single assist in 13 games with the Maple Leafs before the trade. Barabanov had previously spent his entire career in Russia and his one-year deal carries a $1 million cap hit.

Raska was selected by the Sharks in the seventh-round of last year’s NHL Draft. He’s spent the year with the QMJHL’s Rimouski Oceanic, his second season with team, and has scored 12 goals and 25 points in 22 regular season games. His ceiling isn’t necessarily overly high but he could end up becoming a high-energy bottom-six forward. Raska’s three-year entry-level contract carries an $848,333 cap hit.
