The Los Angeles Kings fell 5-2 to the Vegas Golden Knights yesterday.

The score makes it seem like this was somewhat of close game, which is deceiving. The Golden Knights were up 5-0 (almost 6-0) in the second period and while the Kings brought it a bit closer in the third period, it was a pretty lopsided contest.

Defensively, it was another rough night for Los Angeles. The Kings got picked apart early on and were giving up rush after rush. Jonathan Quick was getting no help from defensemen after making the first save and the score probably could've ended up being worse, considering Cal Petersen also played very well in a relief effort.

On an individual basis, several players had issues in their own zone and Kurtis MacDermid is one of them. He keeps getting caught in the offensive zone on avoidable plays or freezes at the blue line on a rush, then isn’t fast enough to recover. He’s out of position far too often but considering the Kings’ injuries on the back end, they really don’t have many options.

The Golden Knights are a great team but this was a poor showing from the Kings.
