The New York Islanders announced today that they’ve loaned defenseman Bode Wilde to Vasterviks IK in Sweden’s second-highest professional league.

Wilde is 21 years old and was originally selected by the Islanders with the 41st overall pick in 2018. Last season, he scored three goals and six points in 22 games with the AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

The defender was left out of the team’s training camp, as a result of him being unvaccinated against COVID-19. He had previously commented the following on Instagram, regarding not being able to attend camp.
