The Carolina Hurricanes signed forward Warren Foegele to a one-year contract extension yesterday, worth $2.15 million. The deal comes just three days before Foegele's scheduled arbitration hearing.

Foegele is coming off a strong year, where he scored 13 goals and 30 points in 68 games, a pace of 16 goals and 36 points per 82 games. He’s just 24 years old and has now played two seasons with the Hurricanes. Foegele is likely to play in Carolina's middle-six again next season and will still be a restricted free agent when this contract expires.

I won’t go too deep into how I feel about this contract but I will say it’s fairly reasonable. That said, the price was a bit higher than expected, considering it’s only a one-year deal rather than a two or three-year deal.

Tomorrow, I’ll post an article giving more in-depth thoughts and analysis on the contract.
