The Carolina Hurricanes announced yesterday that they’ve hired Justin Williams as a Special Advisor to the General Manager.

Williams was the Hurricanes’ captain for the 2018-19 season and retired after the Hurricanes’ 2020 playoff run. He was a member of Carolina’s 2006 Stanley Cup-winning team and also won two Cups with the Los Angeles Kings in 2012 and 2014.

It’s both interesting and exciting to see Williams in a front office role with the Hurricanes so soon after retiring. It remains to be seen as to what responsibilities he’ll have with the team and how large of a role he takes on.
