What's the Buzz?: How much would you pay Tyler Myers?
First off, thoughts go out to the family and friends of Red Kelly, one of the true pillars of hockey...I have been thinking of a proper way of honouring Kelly and his greatness and will have more on that later.
I will also be getting Part 2 of my "Offseason 2019 Rumor Preview Week:Draft Trades," but there is a new rumor I am talking to my sources about this morning...
Tyler Myers is going to be one of the top UFA D-men available on July 1, and while Winnipeg is trying to get him extended, that is far from a sure thing. In fact, many of my sources in and around Winnipeg feel Myers will not be signed because the price will be somewhere close to $40 million for 6 years...
Combine Myers high price with the fact Trouba is an RFA and Winnipeg is up against it...for sure.
All that said, it didn't take a lot off calls to find out there were other teams who would look hard at Myers and the pricetag wasn't really being viewed as a roadblock.
4 teams....Montreal (e4), Toronto (e3), Pittsburgh (e3), Philly (e3) are all VERY interested in Myers with more teams expected to jump in.
