What about Bob?

There’s no hiding the importance of Pittsburgh’s next two games. The home and home against Columbus have the potential to be incredible, devastating, or hold the status quo. A sweep by either team would be enormous in their pursuit of a playoff berth. Currently the Penguins are 79% to make the playoffs with the Blue Jackets at 71%. The Penguins can really do some damage to the all-in Blue Jackets hopes with two wins

Matt Murray will be the Penguins goalie tonight which isn’t surprising. He’s been playing really well. What is surprising is that the Blue Jackets will not be going with Sergei Bobrovsky. Instead Columbus will be going with Joonis Korpisalo. They currently have three goalies rostered. Keith Kinkaid is the other goalie currently rostered and he will be the backup. Bobrovsky will be a healthy scratch. The Penguins have done a number on Bobrovsky and the decision makers for the team to scratch their best goaltender option by choice. They might as well have moved him at the deadline for assets if they aren’t going to play him in the biggest games of the regular season. Weird.

Kris Letang will not be returning to the lineup tonight. He did not skate today due to an illness. His skating session the other day did not have any setbacks. Olli Maatta also skated before practice today.

Evgeni Malkin has caught a lot of heat this year ever since his torrid start to the year dissipated. He’s still doing quite a bit of the heavy lifting

Everything still directly runs through Malkin. When you don’t get any help from the back end you have to do it on your own. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind getting a little more help.

Even if the Penguins are winning we can all look forward to Brandon Dubinsky doing something stupid so that should be fun.
