Czech club ''Aukro Berani'' has announced the signing of 23-year old forward Edgars Kulda to a 2-year contract.

''Leon Draisaitl, Alexander Radulov, and Edgars Kulda. What do all three of these players have in common? They are the only European players to have won the prestigious Stafford Smythe Memorial Trophy which is awarded to the most valuable player of the Memorial Cup. Now the left winger becomes the fourth Latvian after Bukarts brothers and Ralfs Freibergs to represent our colors.'' said the press release.

The 23-year old Kulda began his career playing with HK Riga - a junior team in a Russian league then moved to Canada in 2012 where he spent three seasons playing with the Edmonton Oil Kings. During 2013/2014. season Kulda managed to score 40 goals and record 42 assists in 87 games becoming one of the highest scoring players on the team.

That was also the season when ''Oil Kings'' organization paid their tribute to one of their own young players who had passed away - Latvian - Kristians Pelšs making it even more significant that under the ''Play For Pelssy'' team succeeded and Kulda had such an incredible run that at the time he became first ever Latvian and only second European player to be named the Memorial Cup MVP.

In 2014 Kulda was drafted 193rd overall by the Arizona Coyotes but has never been even near the organization. In 2015 he returned home signing with KHL's Dinamo Riga team where he has spent three seasons, playing 109 games scoring eight goals and recording nine assists.

Kulda has also been representing Team Latvia at different levels of international competitions.
