Bertuzzi, Frk sign new deals
The Detroit Red Wings came to terms Monday with two of the club’s restricted free agent forwards.
Left wing Tyler Bertuzzi agreed to a two-year deal, while right wing Martin Frk took a one-year pact. Bertuzzi’s deal comes with a reported $1.4 million cap hit, while Frk’s is a cap hit of $1.05 million.
There was strong speculation that the Wings might not sign Frk, and he still faces a battle to make the squad in training camp, especially if forwards Michael Rasmussen and Filip Zadina, the club’s last two first-round draft picks, are kept with the team.
The Wings still must get three other restricted free-agent forwards - Dylan Larkin, Anthony Mantha and Andreas Athanasiou - to reach agreements on new deals.
In minor-league matters, the Wings opted not to qualify two players from AHL Grand Rapids - defenseman Dan Renouf and right wing Zach Nastasiuk, making both unrestricted free agents. The team did extend a qualifying offer to right wing Matt Puempel.
Puempel, 25, who has played in the NHL with the Ottawa Senators and New York Rangers, produced 22-32-54 numbers in 57 games with Grand Rapids last season.
The Wings released the roster for their development camp, which gets underway Tuesday in Detroit.

Traded Sunday to the Arizona Coyotes, the price the Red Wings acquired for defenseman Robbie Russo was a conditional 2019 NHL entry draft pick.
Here’s the condition: Russo must play 30 NHL games next season for the Wings to get the pick. In three pro seasons, Russo has appeared in 19 NHL games.
