Fill In the Blanks

With the NHL Entry Draft a few weeks away, there are some exciting times ahead in Blackhawks’ land.

Add to that, the Stanley Cup Finals will conclude next week crowning either the Caps or Golden Knights as champions, the NHL Awards and the grace-period to chat to UFAs.

June is always a fun time in the NHL. It’s better when your team is fighting to win the Cup, but hey, we’ve been pretty lucky as Blackhawks fans over the last decade, so I’ll just enjoy this time “off”.

There will be rumours and moves coming up for Stan and Co. and I’m working on a few things (mostly on the Rockford side) that I will have in a blog in the next week or so.

JJ did post an interesting one on the weekend:

Per source: Hawks have discussed moving #27 overall pick to CAR for J Faulk. Probably one of many such discussions going on.

The Hawks know they need to be better (obviously) and although they already have 459 defencemen signed next year already, I’ve heard that they would like to add 1 (if not 2) defencemen. What JJ is hearing lines up with what I've been told, that the dmen they want to add aren’t of the Jordan Oesterle level (depth defenders), but ones of top 4-5 quality.

Justin Faulk would look pretty damn good beside Duncan Keith (as he’s an RHD) and on the Hawks #1 PP.

I’ll let you know if I hear anything further on Faulk or other dmen that they are targeting. It does look like that #27 pick in the 1st round could be in play though.

Now, it’s the part of the show where you, the audience fill in the blanks.

The Hossa and off-season conversations have been really solid on the message boards, so I wanted to keep it going by having a little fun.

Have at it:

1. “With our 1st selection in the NHL Entry Draft, the Chicago Blackhawks are proud to select ______________"?
2. My #1 UFA target this off-season is ___________?
3. The current Hawks RFA we need to sign last (or not at all) is ___________?
4. The Blackhawks backup goalie in October will be ___________?
5. The most surprising Blackhawks player that makes the team for opening night is ______________?

See ya out there!
