Some news before we get to the podcast the Islanders are reportedly set to begin negotiations with right wing Kyle Okposo. The Fourth Period is reporting that General Manager Garth Snow and Okposo's agent have had conversations, but they are in the beginning stages of negotiations. Talks should pick up next month.

I find it hard to believe that this deal gets done before the season starts if Okposo doesn't take a so called hometown discount. Okposo struggled when he returned from the eye injury that caused him to miss 22 games. He was on pace for a career year before having surgery for the detached retina. In 60 games last season, Okposo scored 18 goals and 33 assists. The main question is if there are any lasting effects from the eye injury. We will continue to follow this story.

We spoke to ESPN NHL Inside Corey Pronman regarding his Top 100 Prospects lost. There are plenty of Islanders on it and even a couple of former ones.
