Ranking Each Team's Prospect Cupboard: Huddle and French

The summer is long, and at times, boring for hockey fans. Outside of free agency and trade talk, we have little to watch or discuss. It leads to days of being wide-eyed and not ourselves. To occupy the time, Frenchie (Adam) and I came up with a fun series, which will start tonight.

We got together and ranked each team's prospect system, based on the players in the system. We only took into account those who hadn't established themselves as NHL'ers yet. Sorry, Edmonton, this means Taylor Hall, Jordan Eberle and Magnus Paajarvi are no longer considered prospects. If they were, you'd be much higher on the list.

The players themselves range from kids in the USHL and the BCHL to pros in the American League, who are still developing and hoping to crack a roster in the upcoming season. This includes high profile prospects like Ryan Johansen, Brayden Schenn and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, to the likes of the lesser known; Anders Lee, Nick Bjugstad and Kyle Palmieri.

For the rankings, we took into account not only the high-end future stars, but also the depth at each position, and overall team depth.

So where does your team's system stack up? Let's take a look.

1. New York Islanders
2. Ottawa Senators
3. Chicago Blackhawks
4. Carolina Hurricanes
5. Nashville Predators
6. Boston Bruins
7. Florida Panthers
8. Anaheim Ducks
9. LA Kings
10. Toronto Maple Leafs
11. Colorado Avalanche
12. Detroit Red Wings
13. Edmonton Oilers
14. Columbus Blue Jackets
15. Washington Capitals
16. Minnesota Wild
17. Buffalo Sabres
18. Phoenix Coyotes
19. New York Rangers
20. New Jersey Devils
21. Philadelphia Flyers
22. St. Louis Blues
23. Montreal Canadiens
24. Pittsburgh Penguins
25. Tampa Bay Lightning
26. Dallas Stars
27. Vancouver Canucks
28. Winnipeg Jets
29. Calgary Flames
30. San Jose Sharks

Note: The Draft Review Series will continue as well. But will be spread out between these posts, to give consistent updates for you to read.

Myself and Adam will be putting together a detailed look at each team, daily, starting with the Islanders tonight. I hope you all can enjoy and appreciate the series.

EDIT: Someone asked me about the Rangers, specifically, who do have a very good system. As I noted-- the teams from 10-20 are extremely close, and their rankings were more based on personal opinion than anything else.
