Game Day: Hawks vs Wings

It's a fun time to be a Hawks fan, as there are going to be a ton of games over the next month or so, with games almost every other day and back-to-backs on three separate occasions. The team was able to hang on and pick up the 4-3 win over the Kraken at the United Center on Tuesday in what had to be an exhausting and emotional day for the team with the news of Corey Perry having his contract terminated.

The team will make the short trip to Detroit to kick off a three-game road trip against the Red Wings. I know there are still some mixed emotions about the Wings, as they were once the biggest and best rival to the Hawks, and while I try to remember that these games just don’t have the spark for me anymore, For me, this is just another game against another team, and dare I say I am very intrigued by this Red Wings team and what Stevie Y is building? The league is better when the original six teams are good, so it's exciting to see them put together a competitive team that I think is surprising many across the league. They are currently sitting in a wild card spot and are coming off a 3-2 loss last night to the Rangers in New York, so hopefully the Hawks can take advantage of a tired team. They will also be without their captain, Dylan Larkin, who has really benefited from the addition of Alex DeBrincat and is leading the team with 21 points. The return of Patrick Kane will not come tonight, as he is expected to take the next 7 to 10 days to practice with the team and get brought up to speed with the team.

Taking a look at how the Hawks have fared against the Wings, they have fared pretty well. Dating back to the 2015-2016 season, the Hawks are 15-7 in 22 meetings, and in their last 21 games in Detroit, they are 14-5-2. Now, what does that mean for this team? Absolutely nothing, but it does show that despite not having the most competitive teams over the years, they are still finding success against their once-biggest rivals.

Projected Line-Up:

That’s going to be it for me. I am hoping to get back to posting more and getting more details post for you all I am wrapping up working 11 of the last 12 days at my day job and as soon as I'm no longer apart of the walking day I will be better for you all! The puck drop is at 6 p.m. central, and as always, Let's Go Hawks!
