There was an optional morning skate at the Bell Centre today and 15 players jumped on the ice in full gear, including Jonathan Drouin. However, Martin St-Louis confirmed that Drouin will not be making his return to the line-up tonight and that he’s still day-to-day.
While it was impossible to tell the lines from the morning skate, St-Louis did say that he would be sticking to the lines we saw in the 3rd period of Saturday’s game. Meaning that the Dach at center of the second line experiment will have been short lived, this time around anyway. He will once again be back on the 1st line alongside Caufield and Suzuki. The 3 skated early today without their full gear, just kids having fun on the ice.
Meanwhile, Slafkovsky and Anderson should be centered by Evans while Dvorak is in between Hoffman and Dadonov and Pitclick gets center duty on the 4th line with Pezzetta and Armia. No change is expected on defense since Savard and Matheson are still injured. Tonight’s a promotional game and the first 5 000 fans at the Bell Center will be receiving a Joel Edmundson bobblehead.
Before then though, Team Canada Junior should announce 10 cuts and unveil its roster for the World Junior Championships. It will be interesting to see if Roy, Beck and Kidney make it. Unfortunately for Kidney though, he was injured in the first practice game the team played, that might not help his case…
