Quick rant for a quick hit this afternoon because there’s not a whole lot to say after Saturday’s loss via a blown lead to the St. Louis Blues.
Ugly. Ugly. Ugly.
The Panthers dominated the game and it looked like a nice victory was in store for the Cats, until the Blues forced OT after Florida gave up three goals in the final eight minutes of the third — ultimately losing 5-4.
Who would have thought they would lose this game after leading 4-1 heading into the final frame?
Unreal.
Credit to the Blues for hanging around and taking advantage of a Cats team that sat back a bit and got lazy. I’m still not sure about Florida’s current goalie situation.
After a disappointing home-stand (where they should have won each game), the Panthers hit the bricks as they open up a five-game road trip with a game against the Edmonton Oilers tonight. Maybe the road will serve them better than home did. Who knows?
The Oilers and Cats are similar teams in terms of having some really talented players (EDM has two of the best in the league in McDavid and Draisaitl) and both clubs hovering around .500.

Despite holding McDavid and Draisaitl to just one assist each, the Panthers suffered a 4-2 loss in their first meeting with the Oilers this season on Nov. 12 in Sunrise. In that matchup, Tyson Barrie scored a pair of goals and Stuart Skinner stopped 40 shots to lead Edmonton to the win.“
Maurice believes that Saturday’s loss will fuel Florida on this road trip. I certainly hope so, but I’m also not too confident…
