As it was Thanksgiving in the United States yesterday, today is a bank holiday and it means matinée hockey for our Habs who are visiting the Hawks this afternoon. The puck is set to drop at 14:00 and it will be Luke Richardson first game against the team he coached for 4 years.

Martin St-Louis confirmed that there would be no changes to the line-up, meaning that Samuel Montembeault gets a 2nd start in a row for the first time this season and that Harris and Wideman will have to be patient and miss out on a 2nd game in a row. Montembeault fully deserved this considering the herculean effort he deployed on Wednesday and how good he was.

This will also be Kirby Dach’s homecoming as the Hawks drafted the big center turned winger 3rd overall back in 2019. When asked this week if he would be putting money on the board for this match, Dach laughed in a way that said, “Hell yeah”. That’s hardly surprising since Chicago had pretty much given up on him and was using him in a strictly defensive role before trading him to the Canadiens. This season number 77 has got 17 points in 20 games, well on his way to establishing a new career high in points which currently stands at 26 in 70 games.

From a team standpoint, the Canadiens will try to win a 2nd game in a row after a come from behind effort in Columbus. In his pregame media availability, head coach Martin St-Louis said that he feels his team has elevated its ceiling in a lot of departments this season but is just unable to perform to that level with consistency. That’s a fair assessment and it will be interesting to see how long it takes them to be able to maintain a high level of performance across the board.
