The Los Angeles Kings announced yesterday that they’ve re-signed defenseman Sean Durzi to a two-year contract, which carries a $1.7 million cap hit.

Durzi is 23 years old and made the jump to the NHL this season, taking advantage of several injuries on the team’s blue line. He made an immediate impact with the Kings and managed 27 points in 64 games. Durzi will be a restricted free agent when the contract expires.

Durzi has the potential to be a high-end offensive defenseman and has great playmaking abilities. It’ll be interesting to see where he fits amongst a healthy blue line, given the team has several options on the right side.

Considering it’s still hard to say where Durzi is going to fit long-term, the two-year deal makes sense and he could provide great value for the price of the contract over the next two years.
