Royally forgettable

The good news is many of you did not stay up to watch the game. The bad news, the Penguins got clobbered by the Los Angeles Kings. After getting an early bad angle goal from Kris Letang things went south. The end result was a 6-2 loss for Pittsburgh.

One of the bright spots was Jeff Carter getting his recognition from the home fans after being traded away last year. The two-time Stanley Cup champion was given his proper due.

The teams headed into the third period tied 2-2. Let’s just say the Penguins didn’t have a good period. They allowed four goals on 15 shots which hasn’t been the norm for the team this year. They gave up 45 shots total which was the worst showing of the year by five shots. The loss to the Devils on October 30th saw the Penguins give up 40 shots. The 70 shot attempts conceded was the third worst mark of the season. The six goals against is tied for the worst, but also happened three other times.

The top line of Sidney Crosby, Jake Guentzel, and Evan Rodrigues struggled last night. They were out attempted 11-19 and only had an xGF% of 32.90. What are you going to do? They’ve been great. Had a clunker last night. Move on to the next. Quite frankly, that is what the team needs to do as well because I can’t lie I don’t have much to say about this one. Sometimes things don’t go your way in an 82 game season.
