Mikko Koivu will have his #9 raised to the rafters March 13th when the Wild host the Predators. Koivu holds nearly every record for scoring and longevity in Wild history and was the team's first and only full time Captain prior to last season when Jared Spurgeon was named his successor.

Koivu fully deserves this honor as he was the heart and soul of the Wild for 15 years. He played 1035 games with the Wild scoring 206 goals and 505 assists. He will be remembered as the guy who was counted on by every Wild head coach, when the chips were down or if they needed the big shut down or to win that all important faceoff. Koivu was the Wild's goto in every big spot.

Mikko is the link to the Wild's beginning as he was their second 1st round draft choice and was very much a part of the majority of their first first 20 years. It will be a great night in Marxh for Koivu and the Wild organization as a whole.

The team has turned the page from the Koivu era and they are playing some very inspired hockey as the next generation of the Wild are quite the entertaining group. Yesterday they took down the defending Stanley Cup champions with a gutsy 4-2 victory which came on the heels of their 7-1 victory over rival Winnipeg on Friday.

The current five game home stand has gotten off to a great start with those two victories with Arizona up next tomorrow night.
