Avalanche games finally have start times to go along with the dates on the upcoming 2021-22 schedule. The schedule was initially released with a whole bunch of
TBD's; that has been resolved. With the release of the schedule, it's really starting to feel like the season is right around the corner and I can't wait.
NHL Release:
NEW YORK -- The National Hockey League today announced start times for the 2021-22 regular season. The 2021-22 regular season will commence Tuesday, Oct. 12 with a doubleheader that includes the Tampa Bay Lightning raising their third Stanley Cup championship banner before facing the Pittsburgh Penguins at Amalie Arena at 7:30 p.m. ET, followed by the first-ever regular-season game for the NHL's 32nd franchise, the Seattle Kraken, who will play against the Vegas Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena at 10 p.m. ET. The 1,312-game regular-season schedule -- 82 games per team -- will conclude Friday, April 29, when 30 of the League's 32 teams take to the ice
The Avs begin their quest for a third Stanley Cup by hosting the new-look Chicago Blackhawks and Marc-Andre Fleury on October 12th at 8 pm MT. They face Vegas for the first time on October 26th at home at 6 pm MT.
Other notable dates and times:
- They play and home-and-home series with CBJ on 11/3 and 11/6. The first of four such mini-series this season ( DAL, AZ, PIT).
- They host Anaheim on Jan. 2 for a New Year matinee tilt. They have three matinees total.
- If NHL players end up participating in the Winter Olympics there will be a two-week break in February. The NHL has no games scheduled from Feb. 2-24 because of the All-Star Game and potentially the Winter Olympics.
The Avs play a total of 3 games in Feb.
- The empty Feb. means some of the other months will be stuffed to the gills. December and January will be the busiest with 16 games, followed by 14 games in April.
- The regular season ends on April 29 on the road against those pesky Minnesota Wild.
