The Carolina Hurricanes have continued to stay active in free agency, signing five more players over the last couple of days.
The team signed forwards Maxim Letunov and Sam Miletic, defensemen Jalen Chatfield and Brendan Smith, as well as goaltender Alex Lyon. All players signed one-year contracts at a $750,000 cap hit, except for Smith, whose contract holds a $800,00 cap hit.

Letunov is 25 years old and has spent the last few seasons with the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda. He played three NHL games with the San Jose Sharks in the 2019-20 season, and scored 12 goals and 15 points in 32 games with the Barracuda last season.
Miletic is 24 years old and has yet to play an NHL game. He spent this past season with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, scoring two goals and five points in 21 games.
Chatfield is 25 years old and spent the season with the Vancouver Canucks. He had one assist in 18 games.
Smith is 32 years old and has been with the New York Rangers since 2017. This past season, he scored five goals and 10 points in 48 games, while averaging 16:26 per game in ice time.
Lyon is 28 years old and split the season between the Philadelphia Flyers and the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms. He had an .893 save percentage in six games with the Flyers and an .874 save percentage in four games with the Phantoms.
