The Anaheim Ducks announced today that they’ve hired Joel Bouchard to be the next head coach of the AHL’s San Diego Gulls.

Bouchard has spent the last three years as the head coach of the Montreal Canadiens’ AHL affiliate, the Laval Rocket. He will replace Kevin Dineen, who was the Gulls’ head coach for the last two seasons.

Bouchard also had a career as an NHL defensemen, playing 364 career games with the Calgary Flames, Nashville Predators, Dallas Stars, Phoenix Coyotes, New Jersey Devils, New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Islanders.
