Even though the Canadiens only had a single power play in the last game, head coach Dominique Ducharme felt that it’s time to work on the man-advantage. He believes his team is already well aware of what it needs to do to be successful at even strength and the Canadiens’ survival could depend on them being able to score when they get a power play chance, as rare as they are.

Today, the players from both power play units got an intense special team focussed session while the rest of the the team had a shooting practice on Jake Allen. For the first time in quite a while, Erik Gustafsson and Jesperi Kotkaniemi were not part of the special units. Gustafsson’s spot on the first unit had been taken by Jeff Petry, while KK’s spot on the second was given to Eric Staal. Both units lined-up as follows:

Perry
Caufield-Toffoli-Suzuki
Petry

Staal
Armia-Gallagher-Anderson
Weber

While Gustafsson’s absence on the power play unit may seem to indicate that he could be left out of the line-up for tomorrow’s all important game 4, Dominic Ducharme wouldn’t confirm as much. He told the media that today, they’d seen the power play and that tomorrow, they’d see the rest at the morning skate. Meanwhile, Alex Killorn who has travelled with the Bolts to Montreal, still wasn’t at this morning’s practice.

Stay tuned for news from tomorrow’s morning skate in Brossard and the run up to the Canadiens’ 4th elimination game of these playoffs. If you want to see the silver lining of things, Montreal has a perfect 3-0 record so far.
