Carolina Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind’Amour was named the winner of the Jack Adams Award yesterday, as NHL coach of the year.

Brind’Amour was up against Minnesota Wild head coach Dean Evason and Florida Panthers head coach Joel Quenneville. Brind’Amour was announced as the winner on the same day in which he signed a three-year contract extension to remain with the team.

Brind’Amour led the Hurricanes to a 36-12-8 record this season, which was good enough for top spot in the Central Division. He holds a career record of 120-66-20 in his three seasons as an NHL head coach.
