Quick Hits: June 1, 2021

1) The National Hockey League Draft lottery will be held tomorrow. The Flyers have a 1.8 percent chance of moving up to the first or second pick. University of Michigan defenseman Owen Power, a late 2002 birthdate player, is widely considered to be the most likely candidate to be selected first overall this year.

2) A member of both the United States Hockey Hall of Fame and the Flyers Hall of Fame, John LeClair will be playing in Flyers Alumni vs. Flyers Warriors Showcase fundraising game at Ice Works in Aston, PA, on June 27 (4 p.m. EDT start time). Additional roster announcements are forthcoming in upcoming days.

Tickets to the event are just $20 for general admission. VIP tickets cost $100 but include a private viewing area for the game and a postgame reception with the Flyers Alumni in attendance. To purchase tickets, click here.

Note: If you purchased tickets to the 2020 Showcase game, which had to be postponed due to the pandemic, the tickets will be honored at the door this year. No need to re-purchase as long as you saved the tickets.

3) This past week, the remains of 215 First Nation children were discovered to be buried underneath a former residential school in Kamloops, British Columbia. Flyers Alum winger Scott Daniels, who is proudly of Mistawasis First Nation background and whose late father, Noel, was taken from his family's home and enrolled in a similar residential school in Saskatchewan, issued a statement related to the matter:

4) In conjunction with Memorial Day, Sam Carchidi wrote an excellent article profiling several members of the Flyers Warriors hockey program as well as discussing the impact the program itself has had for the local disabled veterans who participate. The read is well worth your time: Click here.

5) Flyers Daily: Thank you to all who submitted Flyers questions to Jason Myrtetus and me for the two-part "Ask Billy" edition of Flyers Daily on the Flyers Broadcast Network. We tackled a wide array of topics related to the offseason and the state of the team. Part 1 ran 30:11. Part 2 runs 36:37.

6) Schadenfreude Dept: Think its painful to be a Flyers fan? Try being a Toronto Maple Leafs fan beyond the Original Six era. Apart from the Leafs not winning the Stanley Cup since 1967 (the final year of the six-team NHL), they also haven't reached the Cup Final series even once in that span. 28 other NHL teams have reached at least 1 SCF, 19 have won Cup at least once. The Flyers have reached the Cup Final eight times since their 1967 creation and won the Stanley Cup in 1974 and 1975.
