Wings wrap up season series tonight vs Nashville

my season predictions Have been ok so far. I’m still in line points wise but Nashville clenched a series win Tuesday with their fifth win. I’d thought Detroit would tie this series 4-4. After tonight, Detroit has just 14 more games to close out the season.

Interestingly, today would be the halfway point of a normal season. At this point, Mantha, Fabbri and Erne would be heading toward possible 20 goal seasons. Hronek would be looking at better than 40 points, and the GAA is down from 4 (to 3.5). There has definitely been an upswing in defensive play, and that’s a good sign. In fact, the last game against Nashville was pretty much what would be an ideal game during the rebuild. Keep it close, score a couple goals, lose in the shootout.

The real focus for myself, and many, is the trade deadline. Chicago just ate a turdburger in grabbing Brett Connolly in order to acquire a couple younger players and a draft pick. Bowman can’t use his LTIR up fast enough at this point. It gives Florida a little more flexibility, but is a clear sign that Chicago is in rebuild mode. With the lottery luck that Bettman has bestowed upon the franchise (and will continue to) it should be a much less bumpy road than what Detroit will continue to face.

I know I’ve been quiet for two days. Honestly, I’m waiting. And, waiting has made me irritated. The trigger pulls by the Islanders/Devils and The Blackhawk’s/Panthers may well get the ball rolling. But, competing GMs know it’s a buyer’s market. Yzerman isn’t in a hurry to do cap relief favors for 7th round picks. One GM compared asking prices for teams to take on cap space to asking for the world and offering a tank of gas. That’s an odd one.

I know Yzerman never stops working. The organizational silence is a massive benefit, but it is an endless source of frustration when you’re looking for something to blog about. The Wings could take on Pampers as an ad partner, because they just don’t have any leaks. Maybe there’s a new version of a diaper that eliminates odor as well, because there’s not even a sniff of any interesting poop at this point.

For those that know, when storms roll in my head injury just takes over. It’s going to be a bad week, for sure. I will try and get posts up in a timely fashion. I’ve been wearing blindfolds and listening to games. Even vision impaired, hockey is still fun.

Something has to happen soon, right? If and when it does we can start analyzing it. With just over a month in regular season games left, attention will soon turn to the draft. The scouting is severly lacking this year. This is going to make for some interesting drama during the interviews (I assume skype). Let’s hope Yzerman has a franchise player in mind, and maybe Bettman’s (lottery) balls will finally drop in our favor.
