Detroit has waived Frans Nielsen, likely to place him on the practice squad. It’s interesting to see Yzerman willing to free up a roster spot, not what the past management team would typically do. Dekeyser cleared waivers, and has again been assigned to the Taxi Squad. Brome was too, and I assume this will get him off the squad. (The squad has to be filled).

This is just a day after Detroit had a much needed win with Bernier stopping 38 of 39 shots. Brome was placed on the Taxi Squad today, and I assume that Yzerman wants the first year player (who netted his first NHL goal last night) to be a permanent fixture on the team. Nielsen has struggled in the past couple of seasons. He’s looked at as a team leader, and is often one of the unfortunate souls in front of the camera following a team loss.
